Porkopolis announces Chandler location will shut down this weekend

By Jess Harter Friday, June 14, 2019

Porkopolis, a 7-year-old south Chandler barbecue restaurant, will close its doors for good Sunday, June 16.

Matt Hamilton and Brady Bogen (pictured) launched Porkopolis in the newly built Santan Gateway South shopping center on the southeast corner of Arizona and the 202 in April 2012.

That was the same month Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q and Can’t Stop Smokin’ Bar-B-Q also made their Arizona debuts in Chandler, sparking a renaissance of the Valley’s barbecue scene.

Since 2012, however, Porkopolis’ shopping center has suffered quite a few business closures, including anchor Sam’s Club.

Porkopolis, which just started a Friday karaoke night last week, will hold a karaoke farewell party at 8 tonight.

Service will continue through Father’s Day. The restaurant will offer free meals (a two-meat platter or similarly priced entree) to all dads Sunday.

Porkopolis’ Scottsdale location, which opened in 2016, remains in business.
