GHFH group – Old Town Gringos, Camp Social, Hatter & Hare – close

By Jess Harter Monday, June 17, 2019

Disappointing news for patrons of Old Town Gringos, Camp Social, and Hatter and Hare. All three concepts, known collectively as Glass Half Full Hospitality, have closed.

GHFH, a Chicago-based restaurant group, arrived in the Valley in late 2015 to reopen the just-closed Dos Gringos, an Old Town Scottsdale institution for nearly two decades that was renamed Old Town Gringos (pictured).

The group, which eventually moved its offices to the Valley, launched Camp Social, a campground-themed restaurant, at Seventh Street and Bethany Home in Phoenix in 2017.

Last year, it debuted Hatter and Hare, an Alice in Wonderland-inspired cocktail bar, next to Camp Social. And it committed to open a second Camp Social location at the new Overstreet development in downtown Chandler later this year.

The restaurant group’s demise, however, happened quickly.

Last week, the respective property owners repossessed the Old Town Gringos and Hatter and Hare spaces for non-payment of rent. Camp Social lasted a few more days, closing over the weekend.

According to Overstreet developers, Camp Social no longer is part of the Chandler project, which is anchored by Flix Brewhouse.
