Vegan cinnamon roll concept Cinnaholic opens Friday in Gilbert

Cinnaholic, a California-based chain of vegan cinnamon roll bakeries, will make its Arizona debut Friday, July 12, on the southwest corner of SanTan Village Parkway and Williams Field in Gilbert.

It joins Five Guys, Thai Chili 2 Go, Jersey Mike’s, Cold Stone Creamery, and Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in a newly built strip mall just west of SanTan Village Marketplace.

Cinnaholic launched in Berkeley, Calif., in 2010 and gained fame when its owners appeared on the reality TV show ‘‘Shark Tank’’ in 2014.

The menu focuses on create-your-own cinnamon rolls with a choice of 18 frostings and 23 other toppings. Best-selling combinations include Blueberry Pie, Strawberries and Cream, Cookie Monster, and the Old Skool Roll (just topped with cream cheese frosting).

Also available: brownies, chocolate chip cookies, mini cinnamon rolls called ‘‘baby buns,’’ and edible cookie dough. All items are free of dairy, eggs, lactose, and cholesterol.

Doors open at 9 a.m. Friday with a grand-opening special of $1 cinnamons rolls until 1 p.m. The eatery closes at 10 p.m.
