7-year-old Pig & Pickle in Scottsdale locked out by strip-mall landlord

By Jess Harter Tuesday, July 9, 2019

Pig & Pickle, one of the Valley’s top gastropubs, has closed after nearly seven years on the northwest corner of Hayden and Thomas in Scottsdale.

No explanation is posted on the Pig & Pickle’s website or social media accounts, but a notice on the door today indicates the owners have been locked out of the strip-mall space by their landlord for ‘‘defaults’’ in their lease agreement.

Former Atlas Bistro chefs Keenan Bosworth and Joshua Riesner launched Pig & Pickle in December 2012, but Riesner left the partnership a year later.

Pig & Pickle’s menu featured such elevated pub fare as custom-ground burgers on house-made buns, smoked salmon with scallion taters tots, and shrimp and grits with house-made andouille sausage.

The bar offered a rotating selection of a half-dozen craft beers on tap, plus another 30 or so in cans and bottles, as well as wine and specialty cocktails.
