Gordon Biersch closes after 2 decades in downtown Tempe

By Jess Harter Friday, July 12, 2019

Colorado-based Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant has closed after 19 years on the northwest corner of Mill and Fifth in downtown Tempe.

The second-floor brewpub, whose patio was a prime perch for watching activities on Mill, offered pub fare and German-style beers.

It’s the second Gordon Biersch in the Valley to close this year. The Scottsdale location closed in April after 11 years.

The closures leave the chain with just two locations still open in Arizona – at SanTan Village in Gilbert and at Westgate in Glendale.

Gordon Biersch’s parent company, CraftWorks Holdings, also owns several other restaurant chains, including Old Chicago, Rock Bottom, and Logan’s Roadhouse.
