It seems like forever since Ted’s Hot Dogs announced it was opening a location in Chandler. And every month, fans wonder what’s taking so long?
It was March 2017 when the popular Tempe restaurant revealed it would open its second Arizona location at the Chandler Crossroads on the northwest corner of Gilbert and Germann.
But a renovation of the then-34-year-old Tempe location (pictured) ran into a series of delays and took several months longer than expected.
Then Ted’s ran into problems with the Crossroads shopping center over the design of the planned new building, which was to include a drive-through.
So Ted’s went looking for another site in the area and found one to its apparent liking next to the T.J. Maxx plaza on the southeast corner of Gilbert and Germann, which actually is part of Gilbert.
A lease is expected to be signed this week, with the restaurant opening in about nine months.
