For more than a year, East Valley diners have been wondering what would take over the former Modern Margarita and La Bocca spots in downtown Chandler.
The year-old restaurants closed after an overnight fire destroyed their shared kitchen in November 2017. MXSW broke the news in May 2018 that neither would reopen.
Now, there’s finally some news about the future of two high-profile spaces on the southeast corner of Arizona and Boston:
- Tipsy Egg, a breakfast and brunch restaurant, is slated to take over the former Modern Margarita space along Arizona.
- The Uncommon, an arcade bar offering food and arcade games, will move into old La Bocca space, as well as part of the long-vacant Brunchies space next door, along Boston.
Like their predecessors, the businesses will share a kitchen and restrooms.
The property owner is working with the city to expand the patios for both spaces, along with other changes to the building.
