The Hungry Monk in Chandler hosts ‘‘A Visit from the Lion,’’ an evening with Firestone Walker Brewing co-founder David Walker, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 25.
Walker and brother-in-law Adam Firestone, the great-great grandson of Firestone Tire founder Harvey Firestone, started Firestone Walker in Los Olivos, Calif., in 1998 and moved it to Paso Robles, Calif., in 2001.
The brewery’s logo features a lion (representing Walker) and bear (Firestone) facing off.
The World Beer Cup, an international competition held every two years, has named Firestone Walker the world’s best mid-sized brewery four times.
The Monk will have a slew of Firestone Walker beers on tap, including these rarities:
- 2019 Parabola: This year’s edition of the brewery’s famed Russian imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels;
- 2014 Parabola: A single bottle of 5-year-old Parabola can cost up to $50 online (if you can find one);
- Napa Parabola: Released in May, this new variant of Parabola was aged in French oak wine barrels;
- 17th Anniversary Ale: AÂ blend of 227 oak barrels containing nine different beers and released in 2014.
A special menu of Central Coast-inspired food specials also will be available.
There is no cover charge.
