Denver-based Tacos Tequila Whiskey closes after 2 years in Phoenix

Tacos Tequila Whiskey, a Denver-based chain that opened on the northwest corner of 40th Street and Indian School in east Phoenix in 2017, has closed its first and only Arizona location.

Owner and chef Kevin Morrison (who previously co-founded Spicy Pickle sub shops) launched the concept, then known as Pinche Tacos, as a food truck in 2010.

The menu offered ‘‘modern Mexican street food’’ – primarily, 16 kinds of tacos ranging from the traditional, such as carne asada and carnitas, to the more rare, such as cordero (lamb) and hongos (mushrooms).
