La Esquina Argentina, a restaurant featuring empanadas and other Argentinian favorites, has opened on Broadway, a half-mile east of Val Vista, in east Mesa.
Beef, spicy beef, and corn empanadas ($3.25) are the signature menu items. Sandwiches include choripan (grilled chorizo sausage, $8.50), morcilla (blood sausage, $8.50), and gaucho steak ($9.50).
Entrees range from milanesa (a South American version of the Italian breaded cutlet dish, $11) to entraƱa (skirt steak, $18.50) to medio pollo (roasted chicken, $12.50).
For dessert, there’s house-made flan and dulce de leche (pictured).
La Esquina Argentina is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday.
