The Valley’s newest Japanese noodle shop, Azusa Ramen, has opened in the Fry’s shopping center on the northwest corner of Mill and Southern in Tempe. It takes over the former Papa Murphy’s space next to DaYung’s Tea on the north end of the strip mall.

Azusa is a sibling restaurant of Nishikawa Ramen, which debuted in Chandler in 2016 and added an east Phoenix location in 2018.

Four traditional varieties of ramen – tonkotsu, miso, shio, and vegetarian – are $9.99. Specialty versions are Yokohama style and curry, both $10.95, and Asusa black for $12.95. All use pork broth except for the vegetarian.

The menu also offers several rice bowls, including katsu (fried pork cutlet), beef brisket, chicken curry, and spicy tuna for $8.45-$8.95.

Azusa Ramen, which has a liquor license for beer and wine, is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
