Former Wild Berry Diner owner launches George’s Wildberries in Mesa

By Jess Harter Thursday, August 22, 2019

George’s Wildberries, a breakfast and lunch cafe, has opened in the recently vacated Beaver Choice strip-mall space on the southeast corner of Extension and Baseline in south Mesa.

Prior to Beaver Choice, Mesa residents may remember the space as the longtime home of another breakfast and lunch eatery, Ripe Tomato Cafe.

If George’s Wildberries sounds kinda familiar, it’s probably because George Petropoulos owned the Wild Berry Diner in east Mesa for 13 years before selling it a couple of years ago.

The breakfast portion of the menu offers the usual omelets, pancakes, and waffles. For lunch, there’s burgers, sandwiches, and a few Greek dishes like souvlaki (chicken or pork) and a gyro meat platter.

George’s Wildberries is open 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
