So the Valley isn’t getting a Borderlands Brewing location after all – at least not now. Instead, it will welcome Simple Machine Brewing.
Marshall Norris and Matt Wright had been working on a second location of Tucson-based Borderlands on the southwest corner of Seventh Avenue and Deer Valley in far north Phoenix.
Last week, however, the pair and the Tucson brewery announced their partnership is off. Instead, Norris and Wright will open their own brewery in the space.
As they explained on Facebook:
‘‘Why Simple Machine? While these basic mechanical devices (pulley, lever, wheel & axel, inclined plane, wedge, and screw) are all used in brewing, we see the main ingredients (water, yeast, barley, and hops) as the true simple machines that create beer.’’
No opening date has been announced yet.
