Southwestern/Latin sandwich shop Mezquite’s Cafe opens in Chandler

Mezquite’s Cafe, a family owned and operated restaurant specializing in Southwestern sandwiches and salads, has opened on the north side of Chandler Boulevard just east of Arizona Avenue near downtown Chandler.

The menu also offers popular Mexican street foods like:

  • Tostielote: Tostitos chips, queso cotija, corn off the cob, cilantro mayo, hot sauce, and chili powder;
  • Tostilocos: Chamoy, pickled pork skin, rielitos tamarind, jicama, cucumber, tomato-lime juice, and Japanese peanuts;
  • Pepihautes: Japanese peanuts, chamoy, tomato uice, lime, cucumber, Valentina sauce;
  • Chilindrina: Cabbage, tomato, cucumber, avocado, crema, parmesan cheese;
  • Fruit cocktail: Jicama, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, mango, lime, tajin, and hot sauce.

Beverages include organic coffee from Chiapas, Mexico, called Corazon Negro.

Chef Mario Ventura, who co-owns the restaurant with his father, Romario, is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Scottsdale and has worked at several Valley resorts and country clubs.

Mezquite’s Cafe is open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
