The one constant on Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe is change. Restaurants come, restaurants go.
The latest is the latter category is NYPD Pizza, which has closed in the Tempe Gateway building on the northwest corner of Mill and Third Street.
According to a notice posted at the restaurant: ‘‘It has been our honor and privilege serving you for the past 5 years at our Mill Ave location. … Unfortunately, we were unable to continue operations in this location as it is currently structured.’’
The New York-style pizza chain still has eight restaurants around the Valley, including ones in Chandler and Gilbert, and two locations at Sky Harbor.
