Rosati’s Pizza in Chandler closes for 2nd time this month

Rosati’s Pizza in Chandler has been locked out by its strip-mall landlord for defaulting on its lease, according to a notice posted on the door today.

It’s the second time the Chicago-style pizzeria abruptly has shut down this month. It closed without notice Oct. 8-11 ‘‘due to remodeling,’’ according to owner Scott Selke at the time.

The pizzeria has made no mention of the latest closure on its social media. Rosati’s website lists the Chandler location – as well as ones in Ahwatukee and Peoria – as ‘‘temporarily closed.’’

The location on the northeast corner of McQueen and Ray was the first sit-down restaurant and bar in Arizona for Rosati’s, which started with a single takeout-only location in south Tempe in 1986.

The pizzeria currently has 12 locations in Arizona – all but two of them takeout-only – as well as franchises in 14 other states.
