Peixoto Coffee in Chandler to open 2nd location at Epicenter in Gilbert

By Jess Harter Tuesday, October 29, 2019

Peixoto Coffee, a well-regarded coffeehouse and roastery that launched in downtown Chandler in 2015, is opening a second location in Gilbert.

It’ll be part of restaurateur Joe Johnston’s Epicenter development just starting construction at Agritopia on the northwest corner of Higley and Ray.

‘‘Over the years we had many opportunities presented to us to expand but declined them either because we were not ready for it or because they were not in alignment with our vision,’’ co-owner Julia Peixoto-Peters wrote on Facebook.

‘‘We feel this is the perfect location for us to give continuity to our dreams and vision.’’

Peixoto Coffee uses high-quality arabica beans that Peixoto-Peters’ father, grandfather, and great-grandfather have been harvesting for more than a century on the family farm in Brazil.

Peixoto-Peters and her husband, Jeff, import the beans green and roast them at their 1,400-square-foot space on the southwest corner of Arizona Avenue and Boston Street.

The Gilbert opening likely won’t be until next summer.
