Mexican/Mediterranean concept Condesa opens in downtown Phoenix

Suns and Diamondbacks fans have a new place to have dinner before a game or a nightcap after one: Condesa has opened in downtown Phoenix.

The 12,000-square-foot concept takes over the former Tom’s Tavern, plus a couple other neighboring spaces, on the northeast corner of First Avenue and Washington.

Condesa was inspired by and named after a neighborhood in Mexico City, but the menu also leans heavily on Mediterranean fare.

So along with lamb pozole and chicken pibil, you’ll also find tableside hummus, grilled kabobs (pictured: lamb kofta), and chickpea stew.

A take-away menu offers sandwiches, salads, and falafel wraps.

Condesa is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday-Saturday and for lunch on Sunday.
