ComicX, a Mexico-based chain of comic book-themed restaurants, finally has opened its first U.S. location at Desert Ridge Marketplace in northeast Phoenix.

The family-friendly restaurant, bar, and store is located between Sweet Tomatoes and Majerle’s Sports Bar. It originally was scheduled to open last summer.

ComicX (pronounced ‘‘comics’’) debuted in Hermosillo, Sonora, in 2010 and now operates 36 locations in Mexico.

The restaurant serves street tacos and fajitas, but also burgers, pizza, pasta, and other entrees.

It has a full bar, arcade games, and a store that sells comic book collectibles.

ComicX, which is open for lunch and dinner daily, plans to hold an official grand opening celebration in January.
