Now open: Uncle Bear’s Grill & Tap in east Mesa

By Jess Harter Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Uncle Bear’s Brewery has opened a second Mesa grill and taproom – its fourth in the East Valley – on the northwest corner of Greenfield and Southern.

Owner Todd Carey debuted his first neighborhood sports bar in Gilbert in 2000, naming it Uncle Bear’s Bar & Grill after his black lab, Bear. He eventually opened additional locations in Mesa and Queen Creek and closed the original.

In 2009, he added a location in Ahwatukee with a small brewing system and soon was selling Uncle Bear’s beers at all locations, which were rebranded Uncle Bear’s Grill & Tap.

Last year, the brewery ramped up production by launching an 18,000-square-foot production brewery (with a 100-seat taproom but no kitchen) near Lindsay and Germann in Gilbert.

Its core beers include Mandarin Wheat, Ocean Beach West Coast-style IPA, The Mutts Nuts imperial IPA, and Barkley’s Peanut Butter Cup Porter.

The new 6,000-square-foot grill and taproom in Mesa offers 16 Uncle Bear’s beers on tap and a menu of burgers, sandwiches, and Tex-Mex dishes.

Uncle Bear’s is open for lunch and dinner daily.
