The Peppermill, a modern-day steakhouse with French and Asian influences, opens at 4 p.m. today on the southwest corner of McClintock and Elliot in south Tempe.
The indie steakhouse is the brainchild of chef-owner Chad Thomas Bolar, who’s worked at Christopher’s Crush, Wrigley Mansion, Meridiem, and most recently Pesto’s.
The 1,600-square-foot Peppermill is an intimate space with 60 seats, an open kitchen with a wood-burning stove, and a small bar.
Steaks include a flat iron ($24), an 18-ounce T-bone ($28), steak frites ($27-$29), and filet mignon Oscar ($32-$36).
Other entrees are smoked and braised short ribs, lamb ribs, au poivre chicken, weekly pasta and seafood specials, burgers, and even pizzas.
Starters include oysters, bone marrow, shrimp cocktails, and cast-iron cornbread.
When regular hours start Jan. 5, The Peppermill will open at 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and offer brunch from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
