12 West Brewing, which launched in 2016, finally opens its taproom and restaurant at its namesake location at 7 p.m. tonight in downtown Mesa.
The two-story building at 12 W. Main St. is owned by Bryan McCormick, who built the brewery’s 10-barrel system in his east Mesa garage with Noel Garcia, who parted ways with 12 West last month.
“I always wanted to put a brewery in here,” McCormick says. “I waited for the light rail to get built and for Mesa’s time to come.”
In the meantime, the brewery debuted with a taproom at Barnone in Gilbert while an event venue was leasing the Mesa building.
Since the event venue vacated earlier this year, the 19,000-square-foot building near the northwest corner of Center and Main has undergone extensive renovations.
The kitchen offers salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, and bowls. See the menu.
A full bar has a dozen 12 West beers on taps, plus wine and cocktails. There also is a to-go bar.
Tonight’s grand opening party will have a limited food menu but a full beer list. Children are welcome until 9 p.m.
After tonight, 12 West will be open for lunch and dinner daily.
