Opening today: Cock N Tails Modern Brasserie in uptown Phoenix

By Jess Harter Friday, January 24, 2020

Cock N Tails Modern Brasserie, a rock-and-roll-themed restaurant and bar, opens today near the northeast corner of Seventh Street and Bethany Home in uptown Phoenix.

It takes over the space that formerly was home to The Hatter and Hare and, before that, Joe’s Midnight Run.

Owner Kurt Johnson, an Ahwatukee native, spent seven years in the music scene in Los Angeles.

“While I was in the studio recording I started thinking about the idea of opening a bar and how cool it would be to model that bar after what I was seeing and experiencing in the music scene,’’ he says.

‘‘I wanted it to look and feel like being in the studio. That’s what I’m hoping people will take away from their experience at Cock N’ Tails.’’

The menu features classic American dishes like steaks, burgers, pastas, and flatbread pizzas.

Cock N Tails is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Mondays.
