Bar Louie, a Texas-based chain of self-described ‘‘gastrobars,’’ filed for bankruptcy Monday after abruptly closing nearly a third of its locations nationwide.

A total of 98 locations remain open, including the only Valley ones at Tempe Marketplace (pictured) and Westgate in Glendale.

Bar Louie says the 98 restaurants will operate in the ‘‘normal course of business.’’ The company expects to emerge from bankruptcy within 90 days.
