Copper & Logs, a European-style gastropub with a wood-fired oven from the owners of Cuisine & Wine Bistro, has opened in Gilbert.
It takes over the former home of Pizza A Metro, which closed in 2018, on the southwest corner of Greenfield and Warner.
Although Cuisine & Wine, which has locations in Gilbert and south Chandler, is best known for French cuisine, Copper and Logs’ menu leans more toward Italy.
Wood-fired pizzas take center stage with the Smoked Sea ($15.95) – a white base on black dough topped with smoked salmon, dill crema, and grilled lemon – designated as the house favorite.
There also are pasta dishes, such as the Arrabbiata ($12.95) featuring penne dressed with its namesake spicy sauce of chili peppers, tomatoes, and garlic.
The most intriguing items are the Hangin’ Skewers ($18.95-$23.95) – beef, chicken, salmon, or house sausage – with choice of two dipping sauces and a side dish.
The bar has nine beers on tap (and more in bottles), wine, and cocktails.
Copper & Logs opens at 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Happy hour runs 2-6 p.m. daily.
