Board-games cafe concept Mox Boarding House coming to Chandler

By Jess Harter Thursday, February 13, 2020

Mox Boarding House – a Seattle-based restaurant and board games concept – will open its fourth location in Chandler.

It’s taking over the former Social Box Neighborhood Eatery, which closed in 2017 on Alma School between Warner and Ray.

The original Mox Cafe, named after a set of cards in the ‘‘Magic: The Gathering’’ game (also invented in Seattle), debuted in 2011.

A second location opened in Bellevue, Wash., in 2014, with a new name – Mox Boarding House. A third location is scheduled to open in Portland this month.

Besides more than 600 board games, Mox offers a menu of sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, and craft beers.

No opening date for the Chandler location has been announced, but the construction work has just begun.
