With several states beginning to allow restaurants to reopen this week, the National Restaurant Association has issued a 10-page Covid-19 reopening guide for restaurant owners.
Its recommendations include:
- Thoroughly cleaning, detailing, and sanitizing the entire facility;
- Conducting employee temperature checks;
- Cleaning and sanitizing tabletops, table condiments, digital ordering devices, check presenters, self-service areas, and common touch areas between seatings;
- Cleaning and sanitizing reusable menus, or offering paper menus that can be discarded after each customer use;
- Using rolled silverware and eliminating table presets;
- Removing unwrapped straws from drink stations;
- Making hand sanitizer available to all customers.
I’d like to think some of the suggestions – such as installing sneeze guards on salad bars – were being using before pandemic.
Arizona’s stay-at-home order is set to expire Thursday unless Gov. Ducey extends it.
