El Zocalo Mexican Grille, a fixture in downtown Chandler for two decades, has closed.
Owners Obed and Pam de la Cruz made the announcement Tuesday on Facebook:
‘‘We are sad to announce this chapter has come to an end. El Zocalo has had an unforgettable 20-year run so it is with such great sadness that this Cinco de Mayo we close our doors.’’
According to their post, however, this may not be the end for the El Zocalo:
‘‘Stay connected to see when we find our new Zocalo home and we’ll get together and celebrate the start of our new chapter!’’
The de la Cruz family also operates El Sol Mexican Cafe & Bakery in Chandler, Mangos Mexican Cafe in Mesa, and PHX Burrito House.
