Lochiel Brewing closes taproom ‘indefinitely,’ will focus on production

Due to state-mandated closures during the Covid-19 pandemic, Lochiel Brewing in east Mesa has closed its taproom ‘‘indefinitely’’ and is replacing it with a bottling line.

The 3-year-old brewery, which specializes in Scottish ales and lagers, will focus on selling its beers to restaurants, bars, and stores, owner Ian Cameron (pictured) explains on Lochiel’s website.

The change in its business model is necessary ‘‘to reduce/eliminate risk from questionable and debatable government decisions and actions that would inevitably destroy businesses and the lives/community they support,’’ he says.

The 2,900-square-foot industrial space included an eight-seat bar and 10 tables.
