Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, Gordon Biersch, Rock Bottom Brewery, and Logan’s Roadhouse – whose parent company, Craftworks Holdings, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early March – are getting a second chance.
Nashville-based SPB Hospitality has purchased and taken control of Craftworks’ 261 company-owned locations, all of which closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, and reportedly plans to reopen at least 150 of them.
The move will have little effect in the East Valley, which Craftworks had abandoned long before declaring bankruptcy:
- Old Chicago has one remaining location at Chandler Crossroads, but it’s a franchise, not a company-owned location, and thus not directly affected by the bankruptcy;
- The East Valley’s last two Gordon Biersch locations, in downtown Tempe and at Gilbert’s SanTan Village, closed in July 2019 and February 2020, respectively;
- The East Valley’s only Rock Bottom location, in Ahwatukee, closed in 2011;
- The Valley’s last two Logan’s Roadhouses closed in 2018.
