Los Sombreros, a popular Mexican restaurant in south Scottsdale for the past two decades, plans to open a spinoff location in west Mesa – and temporarily feature three other concepts under the same roof.
It’s all taking over the strip-mall space that formerly was home to La Case de Juana, which closed last fall.
While the restaurant is being remodeled, owners Kurt Riske and Geoff Schuman plan to offer three delivery and takeout concepts:
- Jerry’s Restaurant: A limited menu from a restaurant Riske owns in Safford;
- Carnitas Way: Burritos, burrito bowls, and tacos (menu items not offered by Los Sombreros);
- Rooted: A healthy food concept.
Riske hopes to launch one or more of the concepts by mid-July. Plans call for the three takeout concepts to move out by the end of the year, when Los Sombreros will completely take over the space.
