Former Nobu chef launches Origami Ramen Bar in Ahwatukee

Origami Ramen Bar, a new ramen concept that uses a creamy chicken-based broth instead of a more common pork-based one, has opened in Ahwatukee.

It takes over the recently closed UD Thai Cuisine on the northeast corner of 48th Street and Ray.

Origami is the brainchild of sushi chef Yusuke Kuroda, who grew up and trained in Japan and spent the last four years at the flagship Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles.

Besides ramen, Origami offers hand-rolled sushi and rice balls.

Origami Ramen Bar is open 4-8:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Closed Mondays.
