Tacos Chiwas, the award-winning taco shop known for its Chihuahuan-style street tacos, has opened its third Valley location in downtown Mesa.
It takes over the longtime Queens Pizzeria space on Main between Robson and Macdonald. The space most recently was home to the short-lived Main Street Bar & Grill.
Tortillas are hand-pressed and cooked to order. Fillings include carne asada, barbacoa, pastor, chicken, beef tongue, and tripe.
Husband-and-wife team Armando Hernandez and Nadia Holguin debuted Tacos Chiwas in Phoenix in 2016 and added a Chandler location last year.
Unlike the other locations, Tacos Chiwas Mesa has a bar.
Hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday.
