Maricopa County bars with food likely will be able to reopen Thursday

By Jess Harter Tuesday, August 25, 2020

The Arizona Department of Health Services announced that Maricopa County is expected to improve into the ‘‘moderate’’ phase of covid-19 community spread when the latest metrics are updated Thursday.

That would allow some bars with Series 6 and 7 liquor licenses – as well as gyms, movie theaters, and water parks – to reopen with certain restrictions.

Bars that serve dine-in food will be allowed to reopen at 50%  capacity and must convert to ‘‘restaurant service.’’

Bars that don’t serve dine-in food must remain closed until the positivity rate drops below 3%.

Before reopening, all bars and other affected businesses must complete an online ‘‘attestation form’’ here.

Pima and Pinal counties also are expected to move into the ‘‘moderate’’ phase Thursday.
