Fast-growing State 48 Brewery, which launched in Surprise just four years ago, is opening its sixth Valley location in Gilbert. State 48 Tap House is taking over the former Gordon Biersch space at SanTan Village shopping center.
Current locations include Surprise, Glendale, Scottsdale, downtown Phoenix, and north Phoenix. The first four have brewing systems, although each focuses on a different style. All feature scratch kitchens.
Owner Mario Rana also opened an Italian restaurant, Osteria Mia, in north Phoenix in June.
State 48 Tap House in Gilbert is targeting a Christmas opening.
