Postino, the popular neighborhood wine cafe concept offering inexpensive wines by the glass and light Italian fare, opens its eighth Valley location today in south Tempe.
It takes over a heavily remodeled building that formerly was home to Tempe Public Market Cafe on the northeast corner of Rural and Warner.
Design details feature retractable glass walls, vintage Tempe concert posters and skateboard ads on the walls and ceilings, and a 1960s cigarette machine from the TV show ‘‘Mad Men’’ that serves as a hostess stand.
The menu is anchored by a dozen kinds of bruschetta and eight panini sandwiches.
Happy hour includes $5 glasses of wine and pitchers of beer until 5 p.m. daily.
Postino South Tempe is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday, 9 a.m.-midnight Saturday, and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
