Beard Papa’s to bring ‘world’s best cream puffs’ to north Scottsdale

By Jess Harter Tuesday, September 22, 2020

Beard Papa’s, a Japanese-born chain that claims to make ‘‘the world’s best cream puffs,’’ will make its Arizona debut on the northeast corner of Scottsdale and Greenway in north Scottsdale.

Yuji Hirota, the bearded baker whose cartoon image is the chain’s namesake mascot, launched the concept in Osaka in 1999. There now are more than 400 stores in 15 countries.

Customers first choose one of eight shells – such as regular, chocolate, green tea, etc. – and then one of eight cream fillings – such as chocolate, mango, strawberry, or even ice cream.

The store also sells cheesecake, creme brulee, and cream drinks.

No opening date has been announced yet.
