Tucson’s famed Cafe Poca Cosa closes after 36 years due to pandemic

Café Poca Cosa, one of Tucson’s most celebrated restaurants, is closing permanently after 36 years due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, according to chef-owner Suzana Davila.

“We just do not see a profitable way of continuing,” says Davila, who opened the cafe with her father. “For over 35 years, I have given of my heart and soul to establish my life’s ambition of creating a successful and unique Mexican restaurant.’’

Café Poca Cosa, known for its stylish ambience and ever-changing menu of authentic Mexican dishes, had been featured in countless national magazines and TV shows. It had been closed since the state’s mandated closure in March.

Café Poca Cosa’s original downtown location, known as The Little One, will remain open as a grab-and-go market.
