Vegan doughnut shop SoJo’s Donuts opens in southwest Mesa

By Jess Harter Monday, November 2, 2020

SoJo’s Donuts, a bakery specializing in handmade vegan doughnuts and pastries, has opened on the southwest corner of Alma School and Guadalupe in southwest Mesa.

It takes over a space that has housed several previous bakeries, including Daylight Donuts, Dori’s Bakery, and Mom’s Bakery.

Specialty doughnuts include The Bacon is Due on Maple Street (maple-glazed and covered in house-made rice paper bacon) and the Sonic Sundae (vanilla-glazed and covered in ganache, sprinkles, chopped peanuts, and a cherry, pictured above).

In addition to doughnuts, the menu offers cakes and breakfast sandwiches.

SoJo’s is an amalgamation of owners Sonny and Jocelyn DeCarlo’s first names. Jocelyn DeCarlo studied at The French Pastry School in Chicago.

SoJo’s is open every day except Tuesdays. Hours are 7 a.m. until the doughnuts sell out.
