By Jess Harter Wednesday, November 11, 2020

Sherpa Kitchen, the Valley’s first Nepali restaurant that opened in Gilbert in January, is closing Nov. 22, owners Chandra and Subash Yadav announced on social media.

‘‘Since COVID19 started, the hospitality industry has been through a tornado of change, which has dramatically shaped the way we dine,’’ the couple wrote.

The pair will continue to operate Everest MoMo, the food truck that launched the restaurant on the southeast corner of of McQueen and Elliot.

They also will focus on selling retail products – such as bottles of their coconut masala and fire-roasted tomato sauces, as well as packages of frozen momos – at the Gilbert Farmers Market and, potentially, local grocery stores.

Until it closes, Sherpa Kitchen is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.
