It’s been less than a month since Matty G’s opened its second East Valley location – and fourth overall – in Gilbert. Now, sources tell MXSW the popular neighborhood bar and grill has set its sights on another East Valley location.
Where next? Matty G’s reportedly is taking over the just-closed Smashburger on the southwest corner of Rural and Baseline in south Tempe. No confirmation from Matty G’s yet.
The menu: Twenty specialty burgers – with sports-themed monikers like March Madness and Field of Dreams – dominate the menu. There also are hot dogs, tacos, wraps, and salads.
The history: Matt Gordon and his wife, Doreen, launched Matty G’s in California before moving to Arizona. They opened their first Valley location in northeast Mesa in 2018 and added others in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Gilbert.
