Those who read MXSW’s big scoop last month already knew Buddyz Pizzeria was shutting down its 4-year-old Gilbert location before the end of this year. Now we have the date: Sunday, Dec. 13.
The announcement: ‘‘Due to the decrease in business related to the Covid-19 virus, Fry’s store move, road construction on Val Vista and the high cost of doing business at our location we can no longer stay in business,’’ the pizzeria posted on social media.
What’s next? According to Joe Scarnato, a Chicago native who brought Buddyz from the Windy City to Arizona, the Gilbert location is being relocated to Sossaman and Guadalupe in southeast Mesa.
Timeline: The new location is expected to open around Feb. 1.
