Kudos to Valley breweries Huss and OHSO, which won medals at the 2020 U.S. Open Beer Championship on Sunday.
What is it? The U.S. Open is an international competition that began in 2009. This year, more than 6,000 ales from 140 breweries were judged.
Local winners: Tempe-based Huss won the gold medal in the American Amber/California Common category with its Oktoberfest. OHSO earned bronze medals for its The Helping Phriendly Bock in the Barrel Aged German Lager category and its Sudoku in the Tea Beer category.
Top winner: Deschutes Brewery from Bend, Ore., is the National Grand Champion, winning three golds and two silvers.
