Tacos Tijuana, which started in 2016 as a West Valley food truck, has opened its third East Valley bricks-and-mortar restaurant on the southeast corner of 48th Street and Chandler in Ahwatukee.
The space: It takes over the space that formerly was home to Mexican restaurant Frank & Lupe’s, which closed after owner Teddy Bernal died of covid-19 complications in August.
The menu: Tacos Tijuana offers carne asada and al pastor from a vertical rotisserie along with house-made corn tortillas.
Hours: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Sunday hours will start when fully staffed.
Other E.V. locations: Mesa (U.S. 60 and Greenfield) and Gilbert (McQueen and Elliot).
