Buddyz Chicago Pizzeria begins belated transition to Vero Chicago Pizza

An update on the rebranding of popular Buddyz A Chicago Pizzeria:

Back in November, MXSW broke the news that Buddyz would begin selling franchises with the name Vero Chicago Pizza, the first of which opening around Feb. 1 at Val Vista and Williams Field in Gilbert.

Meanwhile, the four current pizzerias in the East Valley would retain the Buddyz name.

Fortunately, the latter half of the plan has been abandoned and the timelines have been adjusted, so look for…

  • The original Buddyz in Queen Creek to be totally converted to Vero by March 1;
  • The Buddyz in Ahwatukee to be converted to Vero by April 1;
  • The first Vero franchise to open in the former Barro’s Pizza space around April 1;
  • The newest Buddyz in San Tan Valley to be converted to Vero by May 1.

The fourth Buddyz, which recently closed in Gilbert as part of the franchise agreement, soon will reopen on the southeast corner of Sossaman and Guadalupe in east Mesa.

It no longer will be part of the Buddyz/Vero family, but instead will call itself Crave Pizza.
