Popular neighborhood bar and grill Matty G’s Steak Burgers & Spirits has opened its fifth Valley location in south Tempe.
It takes over the recently closed Smashburger on the southwest corner of Rural and Baseline.
Matty G’s is best-known for its specialty burgers – 20 of them in all (pictured: The seven-patty Slumpbuster) – but also has hot dogs, tacos, wraps, and salads.
Matt Gordon and his wife, Doreen, launched Matty G’s in California before moving to Arizona. They opened their first Valley location in northeast Mesa in 2018 and added others in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Gilbert.
A sixth location is in the works for the former BurgerIM building near the northeast corner of Gilbert and the 202 in Gilbert.
Matty G’s is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
