Perhaps Donald Trump’s recent move to Florida – along with his disdain for face masks and his bombastic social media commentary – have rubbed off on Kavasutra Kava Bar.
The Florida-based chain, which has a location near the southwest corner of Tatum and Greenway in northeast Phoenix, shocked many of its Instagram followers with this post Tuesday:
It doubled down on its position Wednesday with another inflammatory post:
When reporters attempted to speak with people at the business’ flagship Lake Worth Beach, Fla., location, the door was locked and people inside made lewd gestures at the media.
It’s not the first time Kavasutra has made controversial posts. In 2018, it was accused of sexist and transphobic remarks on social media.
Kava, if you’re not familiar, is a bitter beverage made from the extract of a Pacific island plant. It’s said to have relaxing effects similar to alcohol.
