North Phoenix’s Pork on a Fork, one of the Valley’s top barbecue joints, is coming to the East Valley.
It’s opening a second restaurant in the long-closed Carl’s Jr. building near the southwest corner of Alma School and Warner in Chandler.
Nebraskans Justin Erickson and Wes Hanson began selling preservative- and filler-free pork from the Erickson family pig farm at Valley farmers markets in 2009.
Two years later they moved into a storefront across the road from the Deer Valley airport and launched Pork on a Fork.
Pork on a Fork also has a food truck and concession stands at Talking Stick and Gila River arenas.
The Chandler restaurant will offer the same slow-smoked meats and sides as the original, as well as additional entrées, appetizers, desserts, and alcoholic beverages.
It will keep the former fast-food restaurant’s drive-through for takeout customers.
Look for the Chandler location to open in May.
