Today is National Beer Day!

Breweries and taprooms across the Valley will be celebrating National Beer Day with specials and activities today. For example, Craft 64 in Old Town Scottsdale and downtown Chandler will be selling $5 pints of its house beers, including its new Tha’ Juice Box hazy IPA. Uncle Bear’s Brewery, Taproom & Yard in Gilbert will be hosting beer trivia and a Pong tournament at 5 p.m. Check your favorite beer hangout’s social media.

Eegee’s to open in Gilbert ‘this summer’

Tucson-based Eegee’s has confirmed what MXSW readers learned here last month: The quick-service restaurant’s first Valley location will open near the southwest corner of Val Vista and Baseline in Gilbert. No opening date yet other than ‘‘this summer,’’ but the chain did reveal it planned to open additional locations in Gilbert and Mesa before the end of this year.

Chefs’ Carte Blanche dinner postponed

The third Chefs’ Carte Blanche prix fixe dinner scheduled for next Monday, April 12, at Cuisine & Wine Bistro in south Chandler, has been postponed ‘‘due to unforeseen events.’’ The seven-course meal prepared by three French chefs will be scheduled.

Arizona Tiki Oasis kickoff on April 22

Hula’s Modern Tiki in Old Town Scottsdale will host the kickoff party for Arizona Tiki Oasis from 3:30-6 p.m. Thursday, April 22, and the general public is invited to stop by for a tropical cocktail. The sister event to San Diego’s Tiki Oasis – the world’s largest and longest-running tiki festival – will take place April 22-25 at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale.

Modern Tortilla opens bricks & mortar

Taco truck Modern Tortilla now has a brick-and-mortar location, joining its sister concept, Aioli Gourmet Burgers, inside the Fry’s Marketplace on the northeast corner of Camelback and Litchfield in Litchfield Park. ‘‘Chopped’’ champion Tommy D’Ambrosio heads both concepts.
