Bama BBQ food truck destroyed, 2 hurt
Queen Creek-based food truck Bama BBQ – operated by Robert ‘‘Bam’’ Everson and his wife, Amber – suffered a catastrophic fire Thursday night in southeast Gilbert, according to several posts on social media. Details are still sketchy, but witnesses reported an explosion around 7:30 p.m. and a man and woman suffering serious but not life-threatening burns. The food truck was set up at Adora Trails Park south of Riggs between Val Vista and Higley.
Shimogamo, Arizona Sake to hold dinners
Acclaimed Japanese restaurant Shimagamo in Chandler will host a pair of sake pairing dinners with Holbrook-based Arizona Sake, the state’s first craft sake producer, on Thursday, May 13. The menu has yet to be announced, but seatings will be 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Cost is $150 per person, excluding tax and tip. RSVP: 480-899-7191.
AZ Women in Food dinners, round 2
AZ Women in Food, a movement created to support woman-led food businesses, will host another three-weekend round of special three-course takeout dinners starting next Friday, April 16. Each course is designed by a different restaurant. The two-person meals are $65, and there are five to choose from. Check out the menus here.
Mora Italian finally reopens in Phoenix
Mora Italian, one of the Valley’s premier Italian restaurants, finally reopens today after being closed since last July due to the covid-19 pandemic. James Beard award-winning chef Scott Conant took advantage of the closure to develop new dishes that have replaced about half of the menu. Mora is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
